SinuCleanse Neti Pot

HOW TO USE KIDS MIST FOR DIFFERENT AGE GROUPS:

Newborns & Infants
Toddlers & Preschoolers
School Age & Adolescents

Newborns & Infants
• Kids Mist is safe and effective for newborns and infants, and is a better option rather than aspirating mucus from the baby’s nose using a bulb syringe, as bulb syringes are easily contaminated by bacteria and fungus and difficult to clean
• Bulb syringe use in infants can damage the sensitive tissue inside the nose, leading to more congestion and blockage of the mucus pathways, resulting in thicker mucus and increased difficulty breathing through the nose.
• Most parents feel the need to remove thick mucus from their baby’s nose, but when doing so with a bulb syringe, caregivers may create problems with recontamination and damage to the mucosal lining of the nose
• Damage to the mucosal lining will increase nasal congestion leading to blockage of the nasal mucus pathways, resulting in thick and/or hard dried mucus trapped in the nose
• When the Kids Mist natural solution is sprayed in the nose, it works to break up thick mucus and allows the mucus to flow to the back of the nose to be swallowed, allowing parents to feel comfortable not using a bulb syringe
• One spray in each nostril is recommended with every diaper change to keep nasal mucus thin and flowing naturally
• Store your Kids Mist at the diaper changing table to remind yourself to use it
• Kids Mist is portable and easy to carry in a diaper bag

Toddlers & Preschoolers
• It is best to use your free hand to steady the child’s head when spraying the nose
• If the child is unable to blow the nose, the nasal saline may be sniffed back and swallowed – remember, mucus was designed by nature to be swallowed
• If the child is able to blow the nose, try multiple sprays in each nostril, followed by blowing the nose and repeat these steps until the nose is clear

School Age & Adolescents
The device may be used independently or by a parent or care giver. Adult supervision is always recommended until the child is success at spraying the nose independently.

Recommended Use:
• Start by bending the tubing of the Kids Mist device to a 45 - 90 degree angle
• Place multiple sprays in each nostril, followed by blowing the nose
• Repeat these steps until the nose is clear
• Children over the age of 7 years old, consider a nasal saline wash using a neti pot or squeeze bottle, in addition to the nasal saline spray

When is the SinuCleanse neti pot or squeeze bottle appropriate for children?
• A nasal wash uses a higher volume of nasal saline that is rinsed through the nose using a neti pot or squeeze bottle
• A nasal wash may be tried when your child is able to blow the nose effectively and is interested in trying something other than the spray
• Adult supervision is recommended when using a neti pot or squeeze bottle with children
• Begin by using smaller amounts of nasal saline to rinse the nose, then gradually work up to rinsing a neti pot or squeeze bottle through each side of the nose
